Band Bio
Mike Daniels
Mike is the original, and only "Smooth Daddy"! I suppose, Mike has been Smooth for nye onto 10 years now. The band started with Mike,Joe Cardinas, and Froggy! Mike needed a fill in guitar player one night and called Sam.[who by the way hadn't played in 13 years] The rest is in the books. Mike really has inspired this intire community. When he came to town from Buffalo,he immediately started looking for the "hub".The musical pulse of Lansing. Little by little, he has helped the musicians of this town, come alive.Anybody that knows anything about music, knows Mike. Were all glad he's here to kick our butts with his chops, and spirit. "Right on brother, right on"!
Sam Brown
Sam started playing when he was 5 years old. When he was a child,he picked up a broom and started playing it.It was at that time that his father decided to buy him his first guitar.Sam started taking lessons at the age of about 6.Went all the way through high school. Then went to Berklee College of Music, in Boston, in 1972. He really never sang until 1969.Sam tried to get into the choir, but he wasn't good enough. Not even the Glee club would let him in.But because of his playing ability,he was able to play in the different musical groups.Little by little he learned to sing. He started playing bars in 1974.And met Mike Daniels. From that point on,he played with Mike off and on for over 30 years. Sam retired from music in 1986, when he had a baby girl. For thirteen years, he didn't touch his guitar.Until Mike called him to play one night at Moriarity's.He hasn't stopped since. He's havin too much fun!
Joe Cardinas
Joe has been one of the premiere bass players in this area for a long time.Together with Mike, they are one hell of a rhythm section. They both compliment each other so well. He listens!Joe is a manager of a local music store. And is in contact with practicaly every musician and event that is around. When it comes to exciting a crowd with your playing, well he's one of the best. He can get a crowd totally behind him with his poppin. He also inspires many other bass players to newer heights. He's also been singing recently on stage, and has had many compliments. Now if we can get him to disco move, while playing. Joe is still a young pup,and has a lot of playing ahead of him. "Pop on"
